Press Release

Badin High School’s seventh annual Academic Signing Day Tuesday morning, May 7, honored the Top 10 in the Class of 2013 as well as 15 students who have been tendered $100,000 or more in academic scholarships.

“We’re very proud of the academic performance of our students,’’ said BHS Principal Brian Pendergest. “Doing well in school is a primary reason to be in school. These students have made the most of their classroom opportunities, and they are to be highly commended.”

Michael Kulifay and Elizabeth McKinley are the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, in the Class of 2013. Kulifay is a graduate of Fairfield Middle School and McKinley is a product of Immanuel Lutheran School.

Kulifay, from Fairfield Township, and will attend Miami University with a planned major of accounting. McKinley, from Hamilton, will attend Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and major in pre-med.

“These students hit the books hard from the very first day they came to Badin, which is how you finish at the top of the class,’’ Pendergest said. “At the same time, they were very active in school. They made some great high school memories.”

Other members of Badin’s Top 10 in 2013, with their college of choice, include: Caroline Beckman (Miami), Lauren Donges (Miami), Michael Lakomy (Ohio State), Emily Martin (Xavier), Eric McGill (Dayton), Nathan Peter (Cincinnati), Chris Pickerill (Miami), and Alex Saurber (Dayton).

The $100,000 Badin Scholarship Club for 2013 includes 15 students from a graduating class of 100.
