Students have spent hours making meatballs, and will serve diners at the annual Spaghetti Dinner sponsored by the school’s DECA marketing education organization. “This has become a very popular event, and the proceeds go to a very worthy cause,” said Joe DeAngelo, now in his 50th year as a marketing education teacher and DECA co-moderator at BHS. “It’s rewarding to see the support the spaghetti dinner receives.”
Proceeds benefit the Paul Seal Memorial Scholarship. Seal, a 1969 Badin graduate, was the first president of Badin DECA and, according to DeAngelo, was “a true servant leader. He was always looking for opportunities to help Badin and the community around him.” Seal passed away in 2014 of ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease. His scholarship is awarded to a current Badin student enrolled in a marketing education course.
Dinners are $10 and include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and drinks. Children under 10 will eat for $6. Gluten-free pasta is available on request, and carry-out is available.
