Mary Schroeder, 77, a longtime affiliate of the Franciscan Friars of the St. John the Baptist Province, died July 14 in an accidental drowning.

 
For 44 years, until her retirement in 2003, Schroeder worked at the former St. Francis Bookshop in Cincinnati. In 1991, in acknowledgment of her devotion and loyal service to the Franciscans, Schroeder was officially named an affiliate of the friars.
 
Schroeder is survived by her brothers, Bill and Dan. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on July 24 at 10 a.m., at St. Francis Seraph Church in Cincinnati.
