ARCHDIOCESE — Society of the Sacred Heart Sister Nancy Kehoe, a Cincinnati native, has published a new book, Wrestling with our Inner Angels: Faith, Mental Illness, and the Journey to Wholeness (Jossey-Bass, 2009).

A graduate of the former Sacred Heart Academy, Sister Nancy is currently a clinical instructor in psychology in the department of psychiatry at the Cambridge Health Alliance, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School. She brings 25 years of experience in leading groups, training clinicians, speaking, consulting and developing the Religious History Assessment Tool to the book.

Wrestling with our Inner Angels fills a gap in the training of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and therapists by providing an account of Sister Nancy’s experience in working with groups of the mentally ill and in helping professionals understand the role of religious and spiritual beliefs in the lives of their clients. It also offers practical resources for professionals and reveals Sister Nancy’s discoveries as a psychologist and person of faith.

A book signing is scheduled for July 23, at 7 p.m. at Joseph-Beth Booksellers, 2692 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, preceded by a reception at 5 p.m. A second book signing is scheduled for July 25, from 3-5 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at Newport on the Levee.
