Sister Anna McDermott

A Mass of Christian of Burial for Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Anna McDermott was held on June 27. She died on June 23 at the Mount Notre Dame Health Center in Cincinnati. Sister Anna was 96 years old.
Sister Anna, a native of Dayton, was a member of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur for 74 years and served more than seven decades as an educator. She taught at the Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati and was the coordinator of the primary school. Sister Anna was also a teacher at St. Helen School, St. Agnes School and St. James School — all in Dayton; St. Joseph Academy in Columbus; and St. Mark School in Lancaster, where she had a triple assignment as superior, principal and teacher.
In addition, Sister Anna worked with the Head Start program and the adult education program at Notre Dame Education Center in Hamilton. She also served as minister of prayer at Mt. Notre Dame.
Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
