A Mass of Christian for Precious Blood Sister Carolyn Henkenius was celebrated Dec. 7 at Salem Heights Chapel in Dayton. Sister Carolyn died at the Maria Joseph Center in Dayton on Dec. 2. She was a Sister of the Precious Blood for 78 years.

A native of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Sister Carolyn was a music teacher at schools in Cincinnati, Norwood, and Cleveland; in Rensselaer and Ft. Wayne Ind; in Phoenix Ariz.; and in Falls Church, Va. For 25 years, Sister Carolyn ministered in parish liturgical music and gave private music lessons. She retired to Salem Heights in 1989 and played the organ at Masses there and in the Maria Joseph Center while continuing to give private lessons. Because of failing health she moved in 2015 to the Maria Joseph Center.

Sister Carolyn is survived by her brother, Neil Thomas, and sister, Charlene Frieburger.

Interment was in Salem Heights cemetery.
