Sister Joan Pfeiffer
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Joan Pfeiffer was celebrated Feb. 24 in St. Julie Chapel at Mount Notre Dame Convent in Reading. Sister Joan, 80, died Feb. 19. A native of Dayton, she was a sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 62 years.
Sister Joan spent 18 years teaching at parish schools in Dayton and Columbus. She also supervised new teachers and coordinated parish CCD programs. In 1973, she began serving at St. Agnes School in Dayton, and went on to serve on the parish outreach and pastoral team. In addition, she served at St. Agnes Parish in Cincinnati, and as a chaplain at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Covington, Ky.
She is survived by her brothers, Dan and Fred, and her sisters, Martha Frisby and Nora Rolfes. Interment was in the convent cemetery.
