A Mass of Christian Burial for Franciscan Sister Joannes Pardo was celebrated June 15 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Joannes, 93, died June 12 at St. Clare Hall, the health care facility for the congregation.


 
A native of Richmond, Ind., Sister Joannes entered the Oldenburg Franciscan community in 1932 and professed her final vows in 1938.
 
Sister Joannes ministered in domestic services in convent homes attached to various schools in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, including the former St. Bonaventure in Cincinnati; St. Ann in Hamilton; St. Anthony in Dayton; the former Our Lady of Angels in St. Bernard; and the former St. Mary in Middletown. She also did domestic service in convents and schools in Indiana, Missouri and New Mexico.
 
In 1978 Sister Joannes became director of food service at the Oldenburg motherhouse. She retired in 2008.
 
Sister Joannes is survived by two sisters, Frances Sowards and Bridget Culbertson. Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
