A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Mercy Mary Clarita Roettker was celebrated on January 9 at McAuley Convent in College Hill. Sister Mary Clarita, 93, died Jan. 4. She was a Sister of Mercy for 75 years.

A native of Cincinnati, Sister Mary Clarita entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1937. She was a graduate of Mother of Mercy Academy and the Athenaeum of Ohio and earned her master’s degree from the Catholic University of American in Washington, D.C. Sister Mary Clarita began her teaching ministry at Assumption School in Cincinnati. She was later principal and superior at the former Queen of Martyrs School in Dayton. She later taught theology at McAuley High School. She retired from teaching 1992, but continued to serve as a sacristan and receptionist at McAuley Convent.

Interment was in St. Joseph (New) Cemetery.
