A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of
Cincinnati Mary Colette Hart was celebrated Dec. 22 in the Immaculate Conception
Chapel at the congregation’s Delhi Township motherhouse. Sister
Colette, 90, died Dec. 18 at Mother Margaret Hall. She was a Sister of Charity for
72 years.

A native of Cincinnati, Sister Colette earned a bachelor
of arts degree in English from the College of Mount St. Joseph and a
master’s degree in administration from Xavier University. She taught all
elementary grades, along with high school algebra and geometry in
Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Chicago and Pueblo, Colo. In the
archdiocese she served at Annunciation, St. Therese, the Little Flower, St. Andrew
in Milford, the former St. Anthony and the former Cure of Ars.

In 1978 Sister Colette began ministering at the former
Marian High School. She went on to assume the duties of dean of women and
vice principal of Purcell Marian High School, where she served from
1981-1990.

In May 2009 Sister Colette was recognized by Archbishop
Dennis M. Schnurr for 73 years of service at the Cincinnati Catholic
Schools Banquet. On Nov. 18, she was honored with the Education Award at Purcell
Marian High School’s Founder’s Day celebration. She continued to
serve as a volunteer at the high school until a week before her death, in
addition to volunteer ministry at Bayley Place Retirement Community.

Sister Colette is survived by her brother, Louis.
Interment was in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery.
