Symposium, tours on church architecture April 17-18

ARCHDIOCESE — The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati will host “The Lord was my Client: Church Architecture of Edward J. Schulte, 1890-1975,” April 17 and 18.

The Schulte Symposium will be held April 17, 1-2:30 p.m., at the St. Peter in Chains Cathedral undercroft, 325 W. Eighth St., Cincinnati.

Denis McNamara, a noted architectural historian and author will give an illustrated talk about the local and national works of Schulte, one of Cincinnati’s most distinguished architects. Father Christopher Armstrong will moderate the panel discussion to follow. McNamara will be joined on the panel by architect Donald Junker and photographer Robert Flischel.
 
On Sunday, April 18, interested persons may tour Schulte churches in Cincinnati from 2-4:30 p.m. Guided tours will be available at St. Bernard, 7130 Harrison Ave.; St. Cecilia, 3105 Madison Ave.; Our Lord Christ the King, 3223 Linwood Ave.; St. Gertrude, 7630 Shawnee Run Rd.; Holy Trinity, 2420 Drex Ave.; St. Monica/St. George, 328 W. McMillan; the Church of the Nativity, 5935 Pandora Ave.; and at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains.

The events are free and open to the public.
