SUMMARY:Battle of Lepanto Concert at Holy Family Church (Dayton)
DESCRIPTION:Holy Family\, the Latin Mass parish in Dayton\, will present at concert of sacred music from composers living at the time of the Battle of Lepanto (1571).  The Holy Family Choir and Schola will sing compositions by Palestrina\, Tallis\, Byrd\, Victoria\, and others; listeners will travel through history with sacred music and commentary on the decisive battle and its miraculous victory for Christendom — from which Mary received the title Our Lady of Victory. A reception follows. All are welcome to the 10:30 a.m. Solemn Latin Mass for Pentecost; the choir will sing full Gregorian propers with early Renaissance hymns and prayers. Latin-English missals will be available.  \nThe concert is presented at no charge but donations will be accepted for to help the choir  attend the three-day Sacred Music Retreat hosted by the Cincinnati Oratory.
