SUMMARY:Pontifical High Mass at Sacred Heart (Camp Washington)
DESCRIPTION:As part of its Aug. 8-12 Sacred Music Retreat\, The Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Cincinnati and its parishes ( Sacred Heart in Camp Washington and Old St. Mary’s in Over the Rhine) will host a Pontifical High Mass in the Extraordinary Form open to all. A Pontifical High Mass is celebrated by a bishop and is the most formal of Latin Masses except for those celebrated by the pope; this one will be celebrated by a visiting bishop at the retreat and sung by the retreatants\, many of whom participate in Latin Mass choirs. \nA second and different Pontifical Latin Mass\, a Requiem Mass\, will be held at Old St. Mary’s Church in Over-the-Rhine Saturday at 10 a.m. It will be preceded by sung Matins and Lauds for the dead. Come for either or both.
