Four Chaplains Mass at St. Boniface

February 12, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

St. Boniface honors the military and the memory of the Four Dorchester Chaplains — a Catholic priest, a rabbi, and two Protestant ministers — who gave up their life jackets and saved others on the SS Dorchester as it sank in 194e. Locking arms, the four Army chaplains died together, singing hymns. One of the four — Rev. Clark Vandersall Poling (Reformed Church of America), was born in Columbus. February 3 was declared Four Chaplains Day by Congress in 1988.

All veterans, active military, family and friends are invited to join in the annual observance. Color bearers from approximately 20 veterans’ organizations will be participating. A rifle salute and “Taps” are part of this very moving memorial service.
