SUMMARY:Kolping Schützenfest Begins
DESCRIPTION:July 20-22. The Cincinnati Kolping Society will select its “king” at the annual Schutzenfest (marksmen festival). Based on a medieval custom\, Society members who participate in the men’s shooting group will shoot at a carved wooden eagle mounted high on a pole. The person to shoot it down becomes king for a year. The three-day festival features German food\, music\, dancing\, vendors\, games\, and the crowning of the King and Queen. Shooting contest takes place Sunday afternoon. The international Kolping Society was formed by Father Adolph Kolping to help support young Catholic working men and Catholic families. Hours: Friday 6 pm – midnight; Saturday 4 pm -midnight;  Sunday 1-9 p.m.
