Dr. William Kurtz and Father David Endres, a Catholic Telegraph contributor of A Question of Faith, will discuss the recently-published Soldiers of the Cross, a long-forgotten account of the war that offers the fullest record of the Catholic Church’s involvement in the conflict. Composed at the close of the war, but never before published, it contains new insights into the service of Catholic priest chaplains and sister nurses, helping to widen our understanding of American Catholic history.

Dr. William Kurtz is the Managing Director of the John L. Nau III Center for Civil War History at the University of Virginia.

The talk will take place on Monday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bartlett Pastoral Center on campus at the Athenaeum of Ohio. All are welcome and admission is free.
