Solemn Passiontide Vespers with the Mount St. Mary’s Latin Schola
The Mount St. Mary’s Latin Schola will sing Solemn Vespers on Sunday, April 7, 2019, 7:00 PM in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great at the Athenaeum of Ohio, 6616 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45230.
This Vespers marks the beginning of Passiontide, the last two weeks of Lent leading up to the Paschal Triduum. Come sing the hymns, psalms, and canticles of Vespers and listen to a musical meditation on the Passion of Our Lord, including the chanted Reproaches and works by Lassus, Lotti, and Victoria. All are welcome and admission is free.

In the nineteenth century, the Catholic Church rose like a phoenix from the aftermath of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. Three complementary, but contrasting revivals: the theological, artistic, and architectural helped reinvigorated Catholicism. The dynamism of these movements continues to inspire and can help serve to reinvigorate our own age. Presenter: Father Joseph Carola, S.J., Professor of Patristic Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
