Marian Library Explore the intersection of Christmas and nature through the Marian Library’s Nativity sets, artwork and more. In this exhibit, artists incorporate plants and animals from around the world into the Christmas story. Gourds, straw, wood, mother-of-pearl and beeswax are among the materials used to create Nativity sets that reflect the natural world in which Christ was born.  go.udayton.edu/christmas-exhibit.

The display includes the large Nativity covering a section of pews and containing over 100 statues. The Nativity has graced St. Mary Church for over 100 years. The Christmas Bazaar will be November 17th & 18thIf you’d like to purchase tickets for the sewing ladies Christmas Bazaar raffle, they are 18 tickets for $10 or 6 tickets for $5. St. Luke Christmas Bazaar: The annual St Luke Christmas Bazaar takes place Saturday, November 18, 8:00am–5:00pm and Sunday, November 19, 11:00am–2:00pm at St Luke School, 1442 N. Fairfield Road in Beavercreek. Admission is free and features homemade baked goods, candy, handcrafted goods, gently used holiday decorations and a wide selection of used books. The bazaar includes music, entertainment, delicious food and of course, Santa Claus.

Christmas Concert with the Southern Gateway Chorus at St. Francis Seraph, 14 E. Liberty St., Cincinnati 45202 at 7:00 p.m.

Rorate Mass A special Mass in honor of the Blessed Mother will take place on Saturday, December 2nd at St Susanna, Mason at 7:00am. This will take the place of the usual 8:00am Saturday Mass that week, and Confession will be available 8:30-9:30am. This Mass is done by candlelight in the pre-dawn hour, to symbolize Mary the pre-dawn of the Rising Sun, her Son Jesus Christ, who comes to us as the light of the world at Christmas. Please join us for this beautiful early morning celebration.

The annual Tyke Shop is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to noon, St. Augustine Church Hall. Volunteers are needed to wrap gifts, help the children shop, serve refreshments, etc. This is a community project that is fun for everyone.

Monday, December 4

St Remy’s Journey to Bethlehem event to kick off Advent will be held on Monday, December 4 from 6:00-7:45 p.m. at St. Remy Hall. This popular event is for pre-schoolers and elementary school children, as well as their parents and grandparents. Come and make an Advent craft, watch a short skit, and go on a journey through town searching for a place to stay, just like Mary and Joseph did on their way to Bethlehem! Check-in will begin at 6:00, children will be divided into groups, and each of the stations will begin at 6:15.

Taizè Prayer Service, St. John Neumann at 7:00 p.m. Taizé Prayer is evening prayer for all Christian faiths. It is a simple, meditative form of worship, calling us to dwell deeply on Christ’s presence around and within us. Songs, prayerful silence, and short readings guide the focus of the prayer in a candle-lit environment.

Rorate Caeli Mass, Saturday, December 9th at 6:30 a.m. at Holy Angels Sidney with Fr. Jarred Kohn – An Advent Tradition, The Rorate Mass is lit only by candlelight. Because it is a votive Mass in Mary’s honor, white vestments are worn instead of Advent violet. In the dimly lit setting, priests and faithful prepare to honor the Light of the world, Who is soon to be born, and offer praise to God for the gift of Our Lady. As the Mass proceeds and sunrise approaches, the church becomes progressively brighter, illumined by the sun as our Faith is illumined by Christ.

Rorate Mass at 6:45 a.m. at St. Paul Yellow Springs. A Rorate Caeli Mass is a special Mass dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary held before sunrise during Advent, with the Mass being lit entirely by candlelight only. This is a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, in which we commemorate Mary’s role in bringing the Light of the World into a world full of darkness. This Mass will be celebrated ad Orientem (priest and people facing the same direction) and in Latin, with seminarians from Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary in Cincinnati forming a schola directed by our own seminarian Luke Danis.

K of C Pancake Breakfast with Special Guest – Santa Claus Dec 17th 9:00 AM – Noon St. John Undercroft 1405 First Ave. Middletown, 45042 Come and enjoy fresh, homemade pancakes (plain and chocolate chips) plus eggs, sausage, coffee, water, OJ and milk. St Charles Carthagena Christmas Event will be a day of reflection and prayer from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m with events for all ages. ¨ Cookies and Milk with St. Nicholas at 1:30 p.m. Hear the story of the real St. Nick. ¨ Hayrides around the property from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 7 p.m. weather permitting. ¨ Mass at 4 p.m. in Assumption Chapel followed by a glowing procession to the live nativity. ¨ Stations of the Nativity display depicting 14 moments surrounding the birth of Jesus. ¨ Polar Express electric train display with our magical conductor Brother Tim Cahill. ¨ Festival of Trees* presented by local parish youth groups and religious education programs and A Festival of Lessons and Carols at 4 p.m. in Assumption Chapel. The Christmas Chronicles! The Bethlehem Chronicle newspaper is in big trouble! If subscriptions don’t increase, the paper will shut down forever. Now it’s up to Scoop Early (cub reporter and part-time shepherd), Sally O’Callahan (social columnist) and Rock Gibraltar (sports reporter) as they search for the biggest news in Bethlehem to help save the paper! Please join us at Holy Rosary School, Monday, December 18th, at 1:00pm and 7:00pm for our performance of The Christmas Chronicles in the school gym.

Miraculous Medal Novena with Eucharistic Adoration will be held on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM at Emmanuel Church Dayton

SoulCore. There is one more SoulCore offering this Advent season. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Simon’s Plagge Hall. Each prayer of the Rosary will be paired with a stretch or functional exercise. You do not need to know how to say the Rosary to participate. Modifications will be given for those standing or sitting. Bring an exercise mat or towel if you plan to sit on the floor. Chairs are provided.
