Annual July 4th event organized by St. Ann (Groesbeck) parishioners to honor the late Tony Merk, a parishioner who died at age six on July 4, 2011, after an almost three-year battle with brain cancer. The Pray - Hope - Believe Foundation provides funding for pediatric brain tumor research, supports children/teens who have a life-threatening condition and their families, and honors the memory of Tony Merk through scholarships and events. St. Peter in Chains Cathedral's Summer Lunch with the Lord speaker series will take place on Wednesdays, July 5, 12, and 19, from noon-1 pm in Synod Hall. Talks geared at young adults, held in a relaxed social setting. Social time begins at 7 pm; speaker at 7:30. The summer series will be held weekly in July – Wednesday the 5th and Thursdays July 11,18, and 25. Father Eric Roush will speak on apologetics. July 8-9. Girls going into grades 1-5 are invited to this overnight retreat with their mothers. Miss Ohio contestant Lexi Richter will speak about modesty and beauty Friday night, followed by a fashion show, campfire, movie, and after-dark rosary walk. Saturday's events include craft stations, lunch, a mother-daughter painting activity, and more. Prices vary with room type (not staying overnight? there's a commuter option as well). $40 for each additional girl. Event ends at 3 pm Saturday.
