Big Hoopla STEM Challenge at CJ
A day of events for all ages celebrating the First Four games leading up to the Final Four, and basketball in general, begins at 10 am with The Big Hoopla Four Miler and continues at 1 pm at CJ, with the fifth annual STEM Challenge (registration begins at noon, pre-registration is recommended). Students have spent hours making meatballs, and will serve diners at the annual Spaghetti Dinner sponsored by the school’s DECA marketing education organization. “This has become a very popular event, and the proceeds go to a very worthy cause,” said Joe DeAngelo, now in his 50th year as a marketing education teacher and DECA co-moderator at BHS. “It’s rewarding to see the support the spaghetti dinner receives.” Proceeds benefit the Paul Seal Memorial Scholarship. The Cincinnati Metropolitan Orchestra will present its spring concert, featuring Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" at Seton Performance Hall. Guest soloist Michelle Conda, professor of piano at CCM, will perform. Other selections include orchestral dances by Smetana and Dvorak, Gershwin's "Cuban Overture," and a performance by the award-winning Northern Kentucky School of Music Youth ensemble, who will also combine with the CMO for a special piece. XU and Episcopal Retirement Services will offer back to back conferences devoted to dementia care at XU's Cintas Center: "Refresh Your Soul" for caregivers (March 13) and the "Dementia Care Summit" (March 14). Attend one or both. The Dementia Care Summit features keynote speaker Teepa Snow, researcher Lisa Vaughn, and Cameron Camp. Panels on dementia care and end of life care also scheduled.
