Catholic Men’s Fellowship of Greater Cincinnati Advent Retreat Begins at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center
Dec. 1-2. All area men are welcome at this annual men's event sponsored by St. Gertrude Men's Fellowship. Dominican Fathers Martin Martiny and Benedict Croell will be the retreat masters. Dec. 1-2. Weekend event (no overnight accommodations) that, when combined with the follow-up one-day course, meets the marriage preparation requirements for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Using materials created by Theology of the Body expert and speaker Damon Owens, facilitators will lead couples in a course that will help them understand how men and women complement each other, what marriage is for, and how God's plan for marriage leads to a happy life. Dec. 1-2. St. Francis Seraph (Over-the-Rhine) is one of six historic venues, and Catholic choirs include the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Glee club and the Mother of Mercy Vocal Ensemble, at this historic German-style choir festival, revived after Cincinnati hosted the World Choir Games. St. Andrew hosts its annual Winterfest, the parish's only fundraiser, on the first Saturday of December. It features food, children's activities, and Christmas shopping opportunities as well as a pancake breakfast, raffle, bake sale, silent auction, Santa Workshop for children, photos with Santa, flea market, and entertainment throughout the day.
