Feast of St. Dominic Mass with Dominican Novices (Madeira)
Join the 17 new Dominican novices (one, Eric, is from Dayton) at Mass following a private ceremony in which they receive the Dominican habit. Each year on the Feast of St. Dominic, a new class of novices for the Province of St. Joseph (Eastern United States) arrives to spend a year at St. Gertrude, living the life of a Dominican friar as they discern their call to be Dominican priests or brothers. Men 18-34 are invited to meet the friars and novices of St. Gertrude Priory, housed at the Madeira parish, and meet the Province's new vocation director. This is the main Ohio vocation event of the summer. It begins at 3 p.m, with rosary and vespers at 5 followed by recreation with the friars, dinner and a talk on Dominican life at 6, and praying Compline at 9:15 in the priory chapel.
