A Memorial Mass for David Reker, an assistant superintendent of schools for the archdiocesan Catholic Schools Office, was celebrated on Dec. 12 at St. Vivian Church in Finneytown. Reker, 61, died on Dec. 7.
Reker dedicated 36 years of service to the elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. He began his teaching career at St. Vivian School, and went on to serve as principal at St. James of the Valley in Wyoming, St. William in Price Hill and Guardian Angels in Mt. Washington.
Reker also served in the Diocese of Covington. He joined the archdiocesan Catholic Schools Office in 2008.
Reker is survived by his wife, Susan, daughters, Jen Murphy and Katie Crane, and his mother, Melva. His body was donated to science.
