Religious Liberty at a Crossroads event at Thomas More College (KY)

January 24, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

TMC’s Religious Liberty Institute will present a discussion of the Little Sisters of the Poor’s religious liberty cases, and others, moderated by Dr. Kathleen Jagger. Speakers are:

Professor Kevin Walsh (University of Richmond School of Law), original attorney for the Little Sisters of the Poor

Ilya Shapiro (Cato Institute), co-author of “Religious Liberties for Corporations? Hobby Lobby, the Affordable Care Act, and the Constitution”

Frederick Gedicks (Brigham Young Law School), author of “The Rhetoric of Church and State: A Critical Analysis of Religion Clause Jurisprudence” and “Choosing the Dream: The Future of Religion in American Public Life”

Dr. Walsh will present the keynote talk and the other two speakers will offer counterpoints. Organizers say that while the three speakers hold very different opinions about the various cases that will be discussed, each considered that religious freedom is at a “crossroads” in terms of law and legislation.

The event will be held in TMC’s Steigerwald Hall and is open to the public.
