Among those in attendance were Sister Mary Waskowiak, president of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas; Sister Kathy Green, president of the South Central Community of the Sisters of Mercy; many Sisters who have supported Sister Susan throughout her discernment;  and her family and friends. Father Jim Meade presided.

“This is a milestone, a realization of God’s dream for my life,” said Sister Susan. “It’s exciting and sacred.”

A native of Huntington, W.Va., she has completed her third year in ministry as a learning disabilities tutor for the primary grades at St. Thomas More School in Withamsville. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the College of Mount St. Joseph and a master’s degree in special education from Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va.

Sister Susan is the daughter of Albert Ruedy of Cincinnati, who attended the celebration, and the late Frances Ruedy. Her two brothers and two sisters also attended.
