PRICE HILL, CINCINNATI, OH – Elder High School senior, Parker Niehaus, has been named a 2019 National Merit Semifinalist. Over 1.6 million juniors in about 22,000 high schools from across the country took the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, including Niehaus, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Niehaus will now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for a National Merit Scholarship and be named a National Merit Finalist.

Niehaus is a product of Elder’s Honors Program, a rigorous program of courses which challenges the academically gifted students of the school. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and German National Honor Society, participates in the Leadership and Initiative Club at Elder, and plays soccer for the Panthers. Parker is the son of Tim and Patrice Niehaus of Delhi.
