A Mass of Christian Burial for Franciscan Sister Jean Marie Linech was celebrated Jan. 20 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Jean Marie, 92, died Jan. 16 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.

A native of St. Bernard, she entered the Oldenburg Franciscan Community in 1936 and professed her final vows in 1942. Sister Jean Marie was an elementary school teacher and principal for 43 years. During that time she taught at St. Anthony in Dayton; and St. Aloysius, St. Catharine of Siena, St. Bonaventure, St. Leo and St. James the Greater schools in the Cincinnati area. Sister Jean Marie also taught in Indiana and Missouri.

In 1982 Sister Jean Marie entered semi-retirement at the Oldenburg motherhouse where she ministered as an assistant to the communication director. She later served as manager of the communication office.

Sister Jean Marie entered full retirement in 1996 and was a resident of St. Clare Hall, the health care facility for the Sisters.

Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
