Elgar’s “The Dream of Gerontius” at the Taft Theater
Cincinnati's May Festival Chorus presents Elgar's monumental work, based on the poetry of Bl. John Henry Newman. Led by conductor Michael Francis, featuring mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung. Also featuring the work of the Festival’s first-ever Creative Partner, Gerard McBurney, in the immersive "Dream Project" - a joyful and imaginative celebration of shared music-making that builds on Cincinnati’s amazing singing tradition. Harry Bicket, a celebrated interpreter of Baroque repertoire, joins with the Cincinnati May Festival Chorus and soprano Joelle Harvey to present one of the finest choral Masses ever written. From its elaborate choral fugue on the Kyrie and the intricate intertwining of voices in the “Crucifixus,” to the explosive “Et resurrexit” and the vigorous “Hosanna in excelsis,” and soaring “Dona nobis pacem,” a masterwork for all times. Cincinnati Catholic Men’s Conference Returns
The Cincinnati Catholic Men’s Conference Is Back. America’s first Catholic Men’s Conference, the 1994 Cincinnati Catholic Men’s Conference, led to hundreds of conferences around the country, but ceased here in 2011.
