A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Mercy Mary Berding was celebrated at McAuley Convent on Dec. 3. Sister Mary, 93, died Dec. 1. She was a Sister of Mercy for 76 years.

Sister Mary began ministering in elementary education in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in educationfrom the Athenaeum of Ohio. She received her master’s in education from Xavier University and her doctorate in education from the University of Cincinnati. Sister Mary taught at Edgecliff College, which merged with the University of Cincinnati in 1980. She also served as regional and Cincinnati Community archivist.

Interment was in St. Joseph (New Cemetery).
