Marian Library Seeking Shelter Christmas Exhbit

Marian Library Gallery and Crèche Museum After they were turned away from the inn in Bethlehem, Mary and Joseph sought shelter elsewhere. In Nativity sets, different traditions place Jesus’ birth in a stable, in a cave or among ruins. Artists depict local architecture, like an adobe or a yurt, and repurpose objects to stand in for the shelter, such as a coconut shell or a piece of pottery. Explore a variety of shelters in this year’s selection of Nativity sets from the Marian Library Crèche Collection.go.udayton.edu/christmas-exhibit.

The celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe will be this Friday, December 12. At Sacred Heart, New Carlisle. It will begin with the blessing of the children at 4:30 pm. Live Nativity at St. Charles Borromeo Campus Kettering, on Sunday, December 21. 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This cherished parish tradition brings the story of Christ’s birth to life with live animals, joyful music, and the sight of our children portraying the Holy Family in a beautiful manger setting. As you walk through the scene of Bethlehem, you’ll be reminded of the simple yet profound miracle of God’s love made flesh in Jesus Christ—Emmanuel, “God with us.” After visiting the Nativity, join us in the PAC for festive fun and fellowship. Children can enjoy games, crafts, and time with the animals, while families share cookies and hot cocoa together. Our Youth Ministry will also be hosting a delicious fundraiser dinner featuring pulled pork sandwiches (or PB&J), along with popcorn and pizza sales to support their work. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate our faith, support our youth, and strengthen our parish community during this sacred season of Advent.

St. Luke Christmas Bazaar: The annual St Luke Christmas Bazaar takes place Saturday, November 22, 9:30 a.m.–5:00pm and Sunday, November 23, Noon – 3:00 p.m. at St Luke School, 1442 N. Fairfield Road in Beavercreek. Admission is free and features homemade baked goods, candy, handcrafted goods, gently used holiday decorations and a wide selection of used books. The bazaar includes music, entertainment, delicious food and of course, Santa Claus.

RORATE CANDLELIGHT MASS will be celebrated on Friday, December 5 at 6:45 a.m. At St. Remy, Russia. The Rorate Mass is a votive Mass honoring the Blessed Mother, celebrated by candlelight before the sun rises. The transition from darkness to light beautifully expresses what the Advent season is about: the Light of the World coming into the darkness of a sin-oppressed world, thanks to the mighty “fiat” or “yes” from Our Lady. All are encouraged to participate in this beautiful Mass.
Christmas on Campus returns to full in-person tradition. University of Dayton Christmas on Campus returns to its full in-person tradition Friday, Dec. 5, with more than 1,000 Dayton Public Schools students paired with undergraduates to enjoy a visit from Santa, live Nativity, crafts and more. This is a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, in which we commemorate Mary’s role in bringing the Light of the World into a world full of darkness

Featuring Mozart’s Litany of the Virgin Mary and a series of patristic lessons and carols
On December 7, 2025, Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology will celebrate Solemn Vespers at 7:30 pm in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great. The Vespers will feature a set of patristic readings with corresponding carols and motets. Highlights of this extended musical offering include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s stunning setting of the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary, K. 109 for choir and orchestra, along with music by José Maurício Nunes Garcia, a Brazilian priest and composer who admired Mozart’s music and promoted the Classical style. There will be no pre-vespers organ recital.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Missa Nocte at St. Susanna Mason at 8:00 p.m. St. Susanna holds a Candlelight Mass will be presided by St. Max’s Father Matthew Montag. Missa Nocte intends to facilitate a greater reverence and solemnity for the Mass, providing a beautiful, calm environment for meditation and contemplation.

Miraculous Medal Novena with Eucharistic Adoration will be held on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM at Emmanuel Church
St. Dominic Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesday, December 9 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. for Adoration and Confession. Pray the Rosary, read the Bible, or just sit and relax and enjoy the peace that comes from simply being in the Presence of God. There will also be an opportunity for Confessions with Fr. Chris or Fr. Phil
Lessons and Carols St. Joseph Dayton at 7:00 p.m. will celebrate a service of scripture and song that recounts the Fall of Humanity, the promise of a Messiah, the Incarnation, and the Great Commission to preach the Good News. Each scripture lesson is followed by a carol or song that reflects the lesson’s message and a brief prayer. This is a wonderful way to prepare for Christmas!

Taizè Prayer Service, Corpus Christi, New Burlington at 7:00 p.m. Taizé Prayer is evening prayer for all Christian faiths. It is a simple, meditative form of worship, calling us to dwell deeply on Christ’s presence around and within us. Songs, prayerful silence, and short readings guide the focus of the prayer in a candle-lit environment.
