Gate of Heaven Cemetery, a respected part of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, is proud to announce a special event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam war. This significant occasion will take place on October 28 at 2:00 p.m. The Commemoration will be held at the Veteran’s Garden in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

The distinguished guest speaker for the ceremony will be Congressman Brad Wenstrup. The event is not only a remembrance of American lives lost but, also a heartfelt tribute to a true hero, Staff Sergeant Jack Freppon. Sergeant Freppon was laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in 1969. He is the most decorated Vietnam Veteran in the city of Cincinnati. As an alumnus of Purcell Marian High School, a scholarship fund has been established in his name, symbolizing his enduring legacy of valor and sacrifice.

During the event, Gate of Heaven Cemetery will proudly present a check to the Staff Sergeant Jack Freppon Scholarship Fund as a testament to our commitment to honoring those who have given so much for our nation. All Vietnam Veterans attending will be presented with a special pin for their service.

We cordially invite members of the media to join us for this poignant occasion and share this remarkable story with the community. For additional information or to schedule an interview please
