Staff Report

Pro-lifers from throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky came together June 2 in demonstration of support for the protection of human life with a peaceful walk across the Purple People Bridge (officially the Newport-Southbank Bridge), which spans the Ohio River from Sawyer Point in Cincinnati to Newport on the Levee in Kentucky.

Cross the Bridge for Life began at the World Peace Bell on the Newport side of the river. Students, groups from area churches and business, friends and families took part in the walk. The Knights of Columbus and Hibernians led the event. Bagpipes and scrolls featuring tiny footprints representing the thousands of babies lost locally to abortion followed the Knights. Matt Swaim, producer of the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio/EWTN, served as honorary event chairman.
