A Mass of Christian Burial for Deacon Michael Davenport was celebrated on June 26 at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Cincinnati. Deacon Davenport, 62, died June 23. 
 
Deacon Davenport was ordained to the diaconate by retired Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk on Sept. 26, 1992. He served at St. Teresa of Avila Parish from his ordination until his death. 
 
As a deacon, he was instrumental in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, the building and grounds, baptism and marriage preparation, Christ Renews His Parish and adult education programs. He and his father built the confessional at St. Teresa. He also constructed a baptismal font for the parish. 
 
A retired pipefitter, Deacon Davenport was a parishioner at St. Teresa of Avila for nearly 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Davenport; mother, Melva; children, Lynn and Eric; and siblings Patricia, Jen, Maureen, Lori, Tom, Jeff, Paul and Kelly; and one grandchild.
