Aufderheide served the Achdiocese of Cincinnati from June 1987 until granted senior status June 2005. He was ordained to the permanent deaconate by Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains July 28, 1987.

Interment was at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery
