A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Catherine Brickner (formerly known as Sister M. Lucina) was held Dec. 27 at Salem Heights in Dayton. Sister Catherine died Dec. 23 at Maria Joseph Center in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 63 years.

A native of Ottoville, Sister spent 23 years as a teacher in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and Colorado. In 1976, she began a new ministry as activity director for the elderly in California and Ohio. She retired to Salem Heights in 2001 and moved to Emma Hall in 2004.

She is survived by her sisters, Lauretta Schaffer, Rose Wenzlick and Carolyn Schimmoeller, and her brothers, Walter, Ralph, Steven and John. Interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
