A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Christine Marie Stahl was celebrated June 3 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the congregation’s Delhi Township motherhouse. Sister Christine Marie, 85, died May 29 at Mother Margaret Hall.
A native of Lansing, Mich., Sister Christine Marie entered the congregation in 1943 and was a Sister of Charity for 67 years, serving in education, medical records, clerical and pastoral ministry in Cincinnati, Washington, D.C., Detroit, Toledo and Denver.
She began teaching the intermediate grades in 1945 at Resurrection School in Cincinnati. She ministered in the same capacity at St. Mary in Hyde Park from 1946-54, and taught junior high school students at St. Bernard in Springfield from 1961-62.
Sister Jean Marie went on to serve in various administrative and pastoral positions in other dioceses. She worked part-time for the archdiocesan Office of Housing in Denver from 1993 until 2007, when she retired to Cathedral Plaza, a Denver retirement and independent living facility. She returned to the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati motherhouse in 2007.
Sister Christine Marie is survived by her brothers, Charles and Gerald. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity cemetery.
