Sister Jeanne Marie Zugelder

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Jeanne Marie Zugelder was celebrated Sept. 8 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the congregation’s Delhi Township motherhouse. Sister Jeanne Marie, 84, died Sept. 2, at Mother Margaret Hall. She was a Sister of Charity for 65 years.

 

A Dayton native, Sister Jeanne Marie earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of Mount St. Joseph. During her educational ministry, Sister Jeanne Marie served at schools in Ohio, Illinois, Maryland  and Michigan.

 

In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, she served at the former St. Martin de Porres School in Cincinnati; the former St. Aloysius School in Fayetteville; the former Holy Cross School in Cincinnati; the former St. Saviour School in Rossmoyne; St. Joseph Orphanage in Cincinnati; Holy Angels School in Sidney; St. Jude School in Bridgetown; St. Gabriel School in Glendale; and St. Boniface School in Northside.

 

In 1990 Sister Jeanne Mary changed her ministry from teaching to serving the Sisters at the motherhouse. She worked with the retired Sisters as director of programming, arts and activities. Upon her retirement, she taught arts and crafts at the motherhouse, as well as serving as front deck receptionist.

 

Sister Jeanne Marie is survived by her sister, Joan Shepardson. Interment was in the motherhouse cemetery.
