A Mass of Christian Burial for Franciscan Sister Marie Kathleen Maudlin was celebrated July 20 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Marie Kathleen, 89, died July 16 at St. Clare Hall, the congregation’s healthcare facility. 

 

A native of Greensburg, Ind., Sister Marie Kathleen entered the Oldenburg Franciscan community in 1940 and professed her final vows in 1946. She served as an elementary and secondary school teacher and principal at various schools, including Carroll High School in Dayton and the former Our Lady of Angels High School in St. Bernard. In 1982 Sister Marie Kathleen was elected congregational minister for the Oldenburg Franciscans. After completing a four-year term, she served as a pastoral associate at a parish in New Mexico. In 1994 she returned to the motherhouse and managed the congregation’s health insurance office and Medicare for the Sisters until her retirement in 2010.  

 

Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
