A Mass of Christian Burial for Ursuline Sister Mary Carmen Johnson was celebrated on March 8 in the Sacred Heart Chapel of the Ursulines of Brown County in St. Martin. Sister Mary Carmen, 73, died March 3 at Mount Notre Dame Heath Care Center.


 
Sister Mary Carmen began her teaching career at St. Vivian School in Finneytown in 1957. In 1960 she moved to Ursuline Academy for one year, but returned to St. Vivian from 1961-1963 and again from 1972-1989. Sister Mary Carmen also served as a teacher and principal at St. Peter School in Huber Heights from 1963-1972. She taught at St. Louis School in Owensville from 1989-2000. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Hope Emergency Program and was a member of her order’s finance committee. She moved to the health care center in 2003.
 
Sister Mary Carmen is survived by her sisters, Anita Rand and Ursuline Sister Jeanette Johnson, and a brother, Raphael. Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
