CINCINNATI – July 25, 2022 – Su Casa Hispanic Center, a program of Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio, continues its legacy in serving the most vulnerable new neighbors in Greater Cincinnati. Su Casa began as a ministry led by Fr. Joe Nelson and parishioners from St. Charles Borromeo (“San Carlos”) Catholic Church in Carthage in 1997, in response to the arrival of nearly 500 Guatemalans fleeing torture. Su Casa became a program of Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio in 2005 and has continued to evolve over the decades. Today, Su Casa serves as one of the area’s largest providers of human services to the local Latino/Hispanic community, helping thousand each year through emergency assistance, case management, family reunification, health promotion and education

On Friday, September 16, Su Casa will hold its Silver Anniversary Awards dinner at TQL Stadium, Cincinnati. The dinner will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 pm and will include an after party and dancing. Weather Channel and Coffee with America host, Sasha Rionda, will be Mistress of Ceremonies and former Bengal football player, Anthony Munoz will be Keynote Speaker. Once again, we will recognize community leaders and businesses who advocate and serve vulnerable Hispanic/Latino immigrants.

The 2022 Honorees are:

·        Isabel Mendez and Dan Calonge, Latino Leadership Award

·        Cristina Zenteno, Volunteer of the Year Award

·        Fr. Len Wenke, Lifetime Achievement Award

·        Sue Keefe, Mother Cabrini Award

·        Xavier University, Outstanding Community Partner Award

·        ProScan, Outstanding Community Partner in Health Award

The Su Casa Hispanic Center has been a trusted friend to thousands of immigrants fleeing extreme violence and poverty to begin new lives here during these uncertain times. And for the last 25 years, Su Casa shines a spotlight on community leaders who share love and support with our newest neighbors.
