ARCHDIOCESE — Pat Armstrong, veteran educator and a retired assistant superintendent of Catholic schools for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, is returning to the archdiocese as interim director of Educational Services, superintendent of schools.

She will work alongside Marianist Brother Joe Kamis, the current superintendent of schools, beginning Feb. 15 and replace him when he leaves on March 1. She will serve until a permanent replacement is hired.

“Pat brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position and I believe her presence for these four or five months will assist in making the transition smooth for the new superintendent,” said Brother Joe, who is resigning to become assistant provincial of the United States Province of his religious community, the Society of Mary.

Armstrong, a former principal of Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Cincinnati, was an assistant superintendent of schools from 1984 to 2007, when she retired.

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati is the 26th largest Catholic diocese in the country, with almost 500,000 Catholics, and has the eighth largest network of Catholic schools in terms of enrollment.
