A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Mary Christine Mitchell was celebrated Oct. 21 in the congregation’s St. Julie Chapel at Mount Notre Dame Convent in Cincinnati.

Sister Mary Christine , 93, died Oct. 15 at the Mount Notre Dame Health Center. She was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 69 years.

A native of Columbus, Sister Mary Christine spent much of her educational ministry at schools there. In the archdiocese, she taught at the former St. Xavier Commercial High School in Cincinnati and the former Notre Dame High School in Hamilton. She taught a variety of courses in religion, English and business.

After leaving the classroom, Sister Mary Christine served in a variety of staff roles at the congregation’s province headquarters in Cincinnati. She retired in 1998 and spent her final years in community service and the ministry of prayer.

Sister Mary Christine is survived by her sisters, Pauline Hemmer and Sister of Mercy Annrita Mitchell. Interment was in the convent cemetery.
