Sister Mary Jean Fields
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Mary Jean Fields was celebrated on June 12 in the congregation’s motherhouse chapel.
Sister Mary Jean, 83, died June 7 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She was a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati for 64 years.
A native of Cincinnati, Sister Mary Jean spent her first 30 years in the community ministering as an elementary teacher, program director and principal. In the archdiocese, she served at St. Brigid in Xenia and the Springer School in Cincinnati. She later served as formation director at the congregation’s motherhouse and in campus ministry at Xavier University, in addition to serving in pastoral ministry outside the Cincinnati area.
Sister Jean is survived by her brother, Jack. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity cemetery.
