Sister Mary Mark Sullivan

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Mary Mark Sullivan was celebrated March 29 in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at the congregation’s Delhi Township motherhouse. Sister Mary Mark, 100, died March 23 at Mother Margaret Hall. She was a Sister of Charity for 76 years.
A native of Lima, Sister Mary Mark earned a bachelor’s degree in social sciences from the College of Mount St. Joseph and a master’s degree in sociology from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She ministered primarily in education for nearly 60 years, serving in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for 40 years.
Sister Mary Mark’s long teaching ministry began at Holy Family School in Price Hill and continued at St. Mary School in Hyde Park; St. Lawrence in Price Hill; the former St. Aloysius Academy in Fayetteville; and St. Joseph Orphanage in Cincinnati. She also served as principal and elementary superior at the former Holy Cross School in Cincinnati and as elementary principal at St. Rose School in her hometown.
In 1977 Sister Mary Mark returned to Cincinnati to serve as a librarian assistant at Seton High School. She volunteered in the same capacity from 1989 until 1992, when she retired to the motherhouse to serve in the ministry of prayer.
Interment was in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery.
