Stephen E. Bittner, CCCE, CCE To Retire from Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society, Jerome E. Auer to Serve as President

Press Release Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society, today announced that Stephen E. Bittner, the Society’s President, has decided to retire effective December 31, 2021. Jerome E. Auer will serve as President of the company upon Steve’s retirement.

Steve has served in his current role since March 1991, and prior to that, served for eighteen years as Director of Operations, where he oversaw our most critical operations and management processes.

During Steve’s tenure as Director, he played a critical role in helping the cemetery adapt to significant changes in the management and cemetery’s leadership. In the process, he served as a champion for establishing new partnerships within the cemetery industry and contributed significantly to our culture of regulatory compliance.

Steve has contributed over 50 years of experience to Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society, and his achievements will not be forgotten. Steve has held leadership roles in the cemetery industry – from serving on Local, State, Regional, and National Boards, as President. Steve’s work ethic, command of complexity, and devotion have been exemplary at the company,” said Herbert E. Menkhaus, Chairman of Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society. “Steve has been a mentor to many, and his influence has made an indelible impact on generations of professionals at our cemetery and in the cemetery industry. I want to thank Steve for all he’s accomplished for the development and progress of Cincinnati Catholic Cemetery Society.”
