Badin High School senior Logan Hage has been named a Commended Student in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Hage scored in the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 scholarship competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in the fall of their junior year.

“I was excited!”said Hage, a graduate of St. Gabriel Consolidated School in Glendale. “When I got my score, I talked to some of the previous winners (from 2019) and I knew I was close.”

“That’s a tremendous honor for Logan,” Badin Principal Brian Pendergest said. “She has done an outstanding job in the classroom, but she has also been very active throughout the school and made the most of her Badin experience.”

Logan Hage is the daughter of Sandra Morgan of Liberty Township and Chris Hage of Liberty Township. While she will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, she will receive a letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognizing her excellent performance on the test.

Hage called her Badin experience, “Really great, actually. There have been so many opportunities. I have really enjoyed the environment.”
Asked about her skill in the classroom – she is a member of the National Honor Society and president of the Scholar-Leader Academy – Hage called it a matter of “commitment. You know that the classes are going to be hard, but you just have to keep working.”

Hage is a leader in the realm of Christian Service at Badin with her appointment to the Service Leadership Board as well as the Magnified Giving board. She is also a Badin Ambassador and a member of the girls’ soccer team.

She plans to be a pre-med major in college and calls her top choices Columbia, Duke and the University of North Carolina.

Badin has now had 25 Commended Students since the 2009-10 school year and 37 students recognized in the National Merit Scholarship program during that time.
