A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Mary Carol Wintzinger was celebrated Nov. 5 in the congregation’s motherhouse chapel. Sister Mary Carol, 86, died Nov. 1. She was a Sister of Charity for 66 years.

A Cincinnati native, Sister Mary Carol spent 28 years as an elementary school teacher and religious educator. In the archdiocese, she served at St. Dominic, Holy Family, Cure of Ars, and St. Anthony schools in the Cincinnati area, and St. Charles Borromeo School in Kettering. In 1969, Sister Mary Carol was appointed principal of St. Mary School in Marion. She moved into pastoral ministry using the benefits of her religious studies degree at Resurrection Parish in New Albany. She returned to the classroom at St. Boniface and St. Vincent de Paul schools in Cincinnati, before retiring in 1996.

In her retirement years Sister Mary Carol volunteered at Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati. She also helped at the Project Excel Program at the College of Mount St. Joseph.

Interment was in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery.
