Unique artwork on sale this weekend at St. Mark’s

Art lovers and those who appreciate fine quality religious art will be in for an aesthetic treat on Saturday, Nov. 15, when St. Mark Bookshop in Centerville hosts a display and sale of unique artwork by the late acclaimed religious artist, Maryknoll Sister Marie Pierre Semler (1901-1993).

Her artwork was last shown in Dayton in 2006 at an exhibit at the University of Dayton Marian Library.Items for sale include note cards, pencil drawings and cast stone pieces/sculptures made from Sr. Marie Pierre’s original molds.

Ideal for affordable gifts, most of the drawings and stone pieces are in the $20-$100 range. St. Mark Bookshop is the only vendor of this artwork in the Dayton area and will display some pieces and take orders after the initial sale. Part of the proceeds from the sale of Sister’s artwork go to benefit the Maryknoll Sisters, the first U.S.-founded foreign missionary congregation for women.

Members of Sr. Semler’s family will be present for this one-day-only exhibit and sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov.15 at the bookshop, 895 S. Main St. (at Spring Valley Rd.) Centerville,OH 45458. The shop is handicapped accessible with ample parking.
